Angina Natural Cures
Angina pectoris, also known simply as angina, is severe chest pain brought
upon by ischemia, which is the lack of blood and thus oxygen supply of the
heart muscle generally due to obstruction or spasm of the coronary arteries
(the heart's blood vessels).

Angina sufferers commonly report symptoms of discomfort within the chest
rather than pain. Symptoms of discomfort include pressure, heaviness,
squeezing, burning, tightness, or choking sensation of the chest.

Other symptoms of angina include breathlessness, sweating, and nausea. All
symptoms of which usually only last for 1 to 5 minutes. A chest pain lasting only
a few seconds usually isn't angina.

Avoid Angina by Avoiding Smoke- Smoke increases blood levels of carbon
monoxide, which in turn displaces oxygen. Because angina is triggered by a
heart in need of oxygen, exposure to smoke commonly induces angina.

Alongside the disadvantage of smoke depriving your body of oxygen, it also
causes your blood platelets to stick together, contributing further towards the
blocking of your arteries.

Consume Less- It only takes one meal containing high amounts of fat and salt
to cause an angina attack because of the sudden blood pressure increase it
causes. Thus, the best way to prevent this from happening is to decrease your
salt, fat, and calorie intake. Try decreasing your calories from fats intake to
under 30 percent and avoid foods containing saturated fats.

Eat Less Meat- The overconsumption of meat can contribute greatly towards
angina attacks. Try eating no more than 6 ounces of meat, poultry, or seafood
daily. Consider substituting these meats for fruits and vegetables combined
with heart-healthy monounsaturated or polyunsaturated oils.

The Oat Bran Cure- Grains, such as oat bran, when consumed can
substantially lower cholesterol levels.

The Exercise Cure- Despite many angina patients believing that exercise is not
an option because of its exertion of the heart, it is very important in preventing
angina attacks. Exercise is both proven to relieve stress and reduce weight,
both ways of which will aid the functioning of your heart. Alongside these
benefits, exercise will allow your body to acquire a lower heart rate as well as a
reduced blood pressure.

Those that experience angina frequently will almost certainly feel signs of
angina surfacing upon starting a workout. But this is no reason to ditch exercise
altogether. When symptoms of angina surface, one can avoid ending the
exercise session completely by simply temporarily reducing the intensity of the
exercise until angina symptoms diminish.

Tilt Your Bed- You can reduce the amount of angina attacks you experience
while asleep by tilting the head of your bed up 3 to 4 inches. This helps by
causing your blood to pool up more in the legs, reducing the amount of blood
that returns to your heart's arteries.

Fighting a Nighttime Angina Attack- Though the tilting of your bed will help
reduce the amount of angina attacks you experience, they may still occur during
the night. An effective way to instantly battle an occurring angina attack is to
simply sit on the edge of your bed with your feet on the floor until symptoms

The Aspirin Cure- Aspirin has been helpful for angina patients because of its
ability to prevent blood clotting and thus angina attacks. One aspirin per day is
commonly recommended by doctors. However, your doctor should still be
alerted prior to starting aspirin, as it is known to have side effects as well as
interactions with other medications you may already be on.
